(english below)

As an action in reaction to documents and files imported from the archives of the Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art in New York, which closed in the 1990s, Bacilö Corporation will perform ACCOUNTING [exhibition and tribute] in MANIFESTA8 SESSIONS MOCHA.

In the production of art, from its conception until the presentation for the audience, the time, effort and dedication that correspond to the creative aspect represent at most, 50% of the total time, effort and dedication employed by the artist on the project. The other 50% is used on bureaucratic issues. Contracts, invoices, correspondence, phone calls, preparing documents, text and images required for the communication and dissemination of the event, budgeting and technical needs, etc. Of course, we talk about artists and artistic groups outside the mainstream or at least they that do not have an external representative to address all these issues (gallery, manager, ...). Good management of these bureaucratic issues are essential, failure, neglect or a bad move directly affect the development and outcome of the creative side.

But it is only the 50% relating to the creative aspect that is finally shown to the public. All bureaucratic matters necessary to achieve the visibility of any artistic work, are maintained invisible.

Given the importance and reality, practically this coupling, that the bureaucratic aspect has on the development and production of an artistic project, Bacilö Corporation, decides to alter the order of factors: bureaucratic issues become visible and the public art object, becomes an administrative document, private and therefore invisible.

This inversion allows visibility of what usually remains invisible to the public and vice versa. And it is here the link that connects our proposal with the MOCHA Project, the files, documents and memory becomes the art object and art work itself becomes a mere bureaucratic document.

ACCOUNTING therefore consists of two parts:

The first is a work that collects all the documents generated in that dialogue between institution - artist in every phase of production. This collection of documents will be shown in the exhibition space, available for viewing and reading.
The second part is a private action developed in an area not intended for the exhibition of art and as a product will generate a document that will be delivered to commissioner of the MOCHA Project, in envelope, by a representative of Bacilö Corporation the day before the action.
